Obituary
Frances Jo Davis, 84, passed away on May 26, 2017 in Denton, Texas. She was born on June 27, 1932 in Anton, Texas to Joseph and Frances Barnett Cundiff.
Frances married Robert (Bob) Davis on June 9, 1951 and after Bob's service in the US Army they returned to Texas.
Frances spent the first 11 years of her married life as a homemaker and followed Bob as promotional moves for his career in the phone company took them to various cities. Arriving in Denton in 1962, Frances began her studies at what is now the University of North Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in Education in 1966.
Another transfer took them to Sherman, Texas where she began her teaching career. While in Sherman she commuted to Denton on weekends and during the summer in pursuit of her master's degree in Education which she completed in 1969.
One final transfer brought them back to Denton in 1969 and immediately continued her career teaching Math at what is now Calhoun Junior High School. She retired from teaching.
Frances was proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Frances Barnett Cundiff, her husband Robert (Bob) Davis; brothers Bill, O.M., Oneal, Jack and Kermit. Sisters Cleo Burt, Lola Cundiff, Lillie McGrew, Ruby McGrew, Marcelle Cundiff, and Nadine Watkins.
Frances is survived by one sister, Laura Marie Leister of Tyler, Texas, two sons, Dr. Jerry T Davis, wife Melissa of Fort Worth, Texas; Wesley A Davis and wife Marcilla of Denton, Texas. Three grandsons, Caleb Davis, JD of Houston, Texas, Dr. Joshua Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dr. Jacob Davis and wife Mindy of Fort Worth, Texas; as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Brookdale North and Ardent Hospice for the loving care provided our Mother and us during her last days.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to CASA of Denton County or a charity of your choice
